GOAL FOR THE END OF 2008

INTEGRITY
SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC
CONTRIBUTION
GOLDEN MATERIAL

have nice momentum going on a long term blog where I’ll post things that I want to read and see.
I MUST have a minimum of 1 article every week to start, 200-300 words. push it up to two on lax weekends. shouldn’t be hard. I will stay up until 3AM on Sunday to get it done if that’s what I gotsta dos.

I have to focus on it and see it happening

I have to spend about an hour a week on it, at the end ill have a list of issues/ideas for my mind to chew on while I do that.

luck = preparation meets opportunity

wow those guys are smart. they make money from their ads on the site, give each person a fraction while other people post, rate, and promote the site for them…genious.

I will host it for 5 months before I put adsense on it

blocks:
I am not a computer nerd I don’t want to be like tikila and spend my life online instead of living it
I am shy? I don’t want my face broadcasted to millions of people and become a ‘celebrity’ I want my identity kept more private, I want my thoughts kept more private. that’s selfishness. share some of them.
I am afraid that people will judge me based on what I write when they find it -> thats okay, because I will be happy and shame free and it will give me confidence
I don’t know anyone personally who does this – > be the first!
some sites out there are better than mine and people should just go to those instead -> It will encourage and challenge my creativity and ingenuity.
I’m not motivated, or too young, or too easily discouraged to create a blogging empire so to speak.
I have to much on my mind already to commit to this – > one hour a week, I will eliminate facebook and trade that in for this.
this will make me feel like an uncool nerd. okay. okay Deanna. okay. I’ll make it the newest hip thang.
what if I write a lot of stuff and then decide to write a book and then people compare my stuff to my old stuff and what if It ruins something in the future? – that risk is outweighed by what I’ll gain. it’s unlikely.
I MUST BECOME A GO GETTER SELF STARTER

dangers:
-    I will get sucked up into comments, replying, moderating, reading etc. email that posting will become secondary
-    this is a long term commitment, likely not an overnight success for me. just being realistic. overnight success is possible but not something to rest my elbows on.

ha you know what would be funny: Musings of a Pot Smoker. you get high and then write shit and take pictures. hhaaahaahaaha. swearing is not very ‘me’.

this will also give me a thicker skin and prepare me for critism = confidence.
give me a better ability to laugh at myself
be a humble self-promoter
be more approachable

2.    when do I work? if this is an at home job I need to set aside time as though it is a professional job and show up on time and do everything like I am setting an example as a manager. now I need to know enough to trust myself as a manager so I will need to do some learning first.

-    network
-    read others blog posts, 3 for each one I post
-    write daily -> will do on the bus in the morning

3.    what do I need to read? subscribe to? watch? enjoy?

remember I want this to be really fun and I want to put something out there. it will not always be a piece of cake, I will have to overcome some uncomfortable situations, but for the most part this is because I want to share something with the world wide web, because I can.

4.    how do I make it something I look forward too, but don’t stress over?

n.    What kinds of content leave a lasting impression on you? that StumbleUpon consistently rewards treasure-trove content. TREASURE TROVE

1- Intriguing Pictures – either by themselves with an overall theme – or accompanying an article. Space or odd nature photos appear to be a mainstay.

2- Comedy Videos – sometimes a collection will have impact. if they have to be short and load easily – due to the limited attention span of many users.

3- Google Revelations – usually search or ranking tips that are well thought out and detailed.

Usually people caught in an embarrassing moment.

-    brainstorm brandable name
-    put online per day at 200-500 words. Overture keyword suggestor and find the core set of keywords for your topic area. Those are your subject starters.
-    Use the keyword once in title, once in description tag, once in a heading, once in the url, once in bold, once in italic, once high on the page, and hit the density between 5 and 20%
-    One page of quality content per day. look more for “article” topics
-    Hone your writing skills and read up on the right style of “web speak” that tends to work with the fast and furious web crowd.
-    Lots of text breaks – short sentences – lots of dashes – something that reads quickly.
